Preparing Your Home For A Wooden Floor Installation The Wooden Floor Company

We advise all our prospective clients to always be upfront with their expectations for wooden floor installations. This ensures that we can meet the client’s needs and alert them to any possible delays that can occur.

Along with this, we also encourage clients to consider the following steps to ensure a relatively quick and efficient renovation project.

Think About The Weather

Surprisingly enough, many never take into account the weather when planning to renovate their homes. However, it plays a significant role in the projected schedule and can either speed up the process or add delays. Spring and summer are more suited for exterior work. This can include home renovation projects like painting, decking and reroofing. During cooler months, it is more sensible to start interior painting and wooden flooring.

Decide On Your Living Situation

Depending on the renovations you have planned, for example, flooring, it is advised to always take into consideration the contractor’s recommendations about room usage. We will always work to your requirements and can help you determine whether to start working in either the bedrooms or dining room first. This helps you plan to have all your necessary amenities, clothing and shoes in one space, instead of having to keep going from room to room.

Speak To Your Neighbours

It’s always a smart idea to alert your neighbours in advance about any of your renovation plans. This can help them as well by planning to be out during noisy work and not being surprised by multiple contractors on your property. It can also ensure that they are prepared for any dust or debris that may fall their way.

The biggest trap many homeowners fall into is assuming that the estimated schedule is definite. While most contractors will work towards this timeline, they may be unexpected bumps along the road that can prolong the length of a renovation. This leads to an unhappy house full of nagging children, increased take-out bills and homeowners feeling rather distraught. Remember to speak up ahead of time, ask questions and take into consideration any recommendations from your contractors. This will ensure that the process is less confining on you and your family.
