This Wānaka property now shines with its natural timber beauty fully restored and protected using CUTEK® CD50 clear oil, enhanced with CUTEK® Colourtone Double Punga—blending modern elegance with enduring performance.
Set in a location fully exposed to Wānaka’s intense sun, wind, and seasonal extremes, the home’s timber had begun to fade and lose its vibrancy.
Set against Wānaka’s dramatic alpine backdrop, this sleek, low-profile home is a masterclass in understated impact. Clad in charred larch, its jet-black façade blends effortlessly into the rugged landscape, offering a bold yet natural aesthetic.
After finding that previous coatings fell short in both appearance and longevity, the owners turned to CUTEK® for a solution that would refresh the look and deliver long-term stability in such a demanding environment.
To protect and maintain the striking finish, the homeowners chose CUTEK® Extreme CD50 with double-strength CUTEK® Colourtone Punga—a powerful combination tailored for charred timber.
The added strength of the CUTEK® Colourtone Punga, enhances UV protection, preserving the bold black finish and slowing weathering. In a standout example of CUTEK®’s hands-on support, a custom formulation was also developed to address a localised rub-off issue, stabilising the area without altering the look.
Thanks to CUTEK®’s advanced penetrating oil technology, this home’s timber is now shielded from Wānaka’s challenging climate. The deep, lasting protection means less maintenance, more durability, and an exterior that will continue to look and perform at its best—no matter the conditions.
