As expectations of home comfort evolve, Rinnai's New Zealand-designed Velare™ 1500 Hybrid Electric Fire reflects a growing move towards integrated climate solutions that perform year-round.
The days of treating heating and cooling as separate design decisions are beginning to fade. Increasingly, architects and homeowners are looking for integrated solutions that contribute as much to the experience of a space as they do to its thermal performance.
That shift is reflected in the launch of the Velare™ 1500 Hybrid Electric Fire from Rinnai New Zealand. Designed and assembled in New Zealand, the new product combines an electric fireplace with integrated heat pump technology, bringing heating, cooling and visual ambience together within a single architectural element.
Rather than asking homeowners to choose between the atmosphere of a fireplace and the practicality of a heat pump, Velare™ responds to changing expectations of contemporary living. It recognises that comfort is no longer defined solely by temperature but by how products integrate into the architecture of the home and support everyday life throughout the year.
"The way New Zealanders think about home comfort is changing," says Andy McNicholl, Managing Director of Rinnai New Zealand.
"People want products that perform exceptionally well while complementing the design of their homes. Velare™ has been created to deliver both, bringing together premium aesthetics, intelligent climate control and everyday practicality in one beautifully integrated solution."
Behind its minimalist appearance, the system provides heating in winter and cooling in summer, while Rinnai's FlameCore technology allows the flame effect to operate independently of climate control, extending the role of the fireplace beyond the colder months. The result is a product intended to remain part of the living environment throughout the year rather than becoming a seasonal feature.
The launch also reflects a broader emphasis on locally developed products. Designed specifically for New Zealand homes, Velare™ expands the role of electric fireplaces within residential specification while demonstrating how local engineering can respond directly to the way Kiwis live.
As homes continue to prioritise flexibility, energy efficiency and architectural cohesion, integrated climate solutions are likely to become an increasingly familiar part of residential design conversations.
