ITI Timspec provides timber to many qualified joiners. Following is the list of species that we supply.
Accoya®
Accoya® is world leading high technology wood. It is produced from a non-toxic cellular modification process known as acetylation. The softwood used in this process is Radiata Pine sourced from sustainably managed forests in New Zealand. The result is a durable, stable and non-toxic material with performance characteristics better than any hardwood. Accoya holds industry leading environmental credentials. The exceptional durability of Accoya is warranted for a minimum life of 50 years above ground and 25 years in-ground.
Accoya wood is perfect for many outdoor and indoor applications such as cladding, decking, panelling, timber fins, fences and joinery.
Jarrah
Jarrah is native to south western Australia, it is a heartwood with a rich dark brownish red colour. It can have straight or interlocked grain with an even medium coarse texture. Considered to be one of the world's most durable timbers. Typical uses include heavy construction, general joinery, boatbuilding and other marine applications. The warm colours and high density make for excellent T&G flooring. Gum veins are common and add to the natural character.
A large tree producing light to dark red timber, darkening to a uniform red-brown mahogany colour. It can have a straight or interlocked grain with an even medium coarse texture.
Kwila
Kwila is a high quality, strong and durable hardwood. The heartwood is yellowish-brown, brown or dark red, red-brown, turning to a dark red-brown with age. The wood is hard and heavy, the texture moderately coarse but even, and the grain may be straight or interlocked but is often wavy. Sulphur-yellow and dark colored deposits are characteristic of the species and can be commonly seen in the vessel cavities. Kwila timber is prone to "bleeding" when wet, producing dark-red brown staining.
Rosewood
Rosewood is a timber with remarkable physical beauty, an amazing range of uses and durability matched only by timbers which are either more expensive or which do not possess the same physical attraction or working qualities. Rosewood is described as having a variable grain pattern. Timber varies in colour from yellowish-brown to golden brown through to red-brown or sometimes a blood red colour. Leading furniture makers actively seek out the timber because of its flexibility, strength and relative ease of its working qualities and finishing properties as well as its low shrinkage and stability in-service.
Vitex
Vitex is a creamy-grey to light greenish coloured durable hardwood. It planes and machines well and is easy to cut across the grain. A good finish can be obtained and it has good bending qualities.
Western Red Cedar
Thuja plicata heartwood is generally a pinkish salmon to red colour but can also be chocolate brown. The sapwood is narrow and almost white. WR Cedar is dimensionally very stable. Texture is fine but uneven due to the prominent growth rings and the grain is straight.
Yellow Cedar
Yellow Cedar is a bright timber, ranging in colour from soft yellow to light brown. Sapwood occurs as a very narrow band and is almost white to yellowish white. Heartwood is a bright clear yellow, darkening upon exposure. The grain is typically very straight with a fine an deven texture. The timber is quite light, being only slightly heavier than WR Cedar. It is also highy aromatic, due to the presense of naturally occurring oils.
