We take care of all the permitting and paperwork for you, so that your solar power system can be set-up without glitches or paperwork hassles.
Once approved by us (and based on our inspection), we will get in contact to schedule an installation date.
Demo Walkthrough
Our highly skilled and licensed solar installers will visit your site to install your new solar system. You can expect an impressive finished product at the end of this process.
We ensure compliance and proper permitting to satisfy the agreement we have over the different phases of the installation (depending on a number of different factors).
Installation can typically be completed on the same day of the purchase if there are no unforeseen obstacles.
Aftercare and Maintenance
In due time, an assessor will visit your home for inspection and quality control, and once satisfied, they will connect the solar system to the grid. Once connected you can immediately start enjoying low power costs an energy independence.
We also offer ongoing maintenance service and health checks, so once you’re set up, don’t hesitate to book a few dates the calendar with us - to ensure your system remains in tip top shape.
A solar system converts sunlight directly into electricity and is made up of 5 main components.
Solar PV Panels
Numbering anywhere from 6 to 54 panels (or more) and connected in series solar panels convert the sun’s rays into DC electricity.
Solar Electricity Inverter
The inverter converts the DC electrical current produced by the soalr panels into AC electrical current suitable for supply to your home and the electricity grid. Inverters can be transformer based or transformer less with transformerless inverters being smaller, lighter and more efficient than transformer based inverters.
Mounting System
The mounting system secures your solar PV panels to the roof. We use leading edge mounting brackets that provide an attractive finish and are designed to last a lifetime.
Your Meter Box
Your meter box and switchboard connect your solar power system to the electricity grid and enable you to participate in the energy buyback and feed in tariff schemes.
Cabling
Using the right cables and minimising cabling distance ensures maximum efficiency of your system. Our experienced installers use only premium quality cable and know how to design a system in such a way as to maximise its efficiency.
Powerful Savings
Generating your own energy from the sun equates to incredible savings on your power bills.
Enhanced Sustainability
Help your home, business, community and the environment by making the most of a clean, green, and sustainable energy source.
Government Incentives & Feed In Tariffs
Take advantage of the benefits and rebates offered by both state and federal governments. You can also earn money by selling unused solar back to your power supplier.
Payment Flexibility
With a range of payment plans for the installation of your solar system, we make it easy for you to start saving on energy bills.
Tax Benefits
There are tax benefits for business with solar panels and also for anyone working from home. Find out if you are eligible for these extra savings.
Peace of Mind Warranties
All of our solar services are secured with warranties and guarantees that protect the system from water, salt and pollution corrosion. Our inverters meet high standards, they’re encased in weatherproof housing and can be secured for 10 years (for an extra fee).
If you still need to know more, please do contact us on 1800 339 558 with any questions whatsoever and we’ll do our best to answer them.
How does solar power work?
Solar photovoltaics (pv) harness the sun's energy and turn it into electricity. These are the panels you've seen on rooftops or in fields upstate. Producing your own solar energy saves money, because you won't have to buy as much energy from utility companies. Solar panels do not store energy for later, so any extra energy you produce during the day is sent back to the electric grid for other people to use.
In addition to reducing how much electricity you need to purchase from your utility company, the utility gives you bill credits for any electricity you send out to the grid. Most home and/or businesses owners can dramatically reduce their electricity bills by installing solar on their properties.
Is solar worth it in Australia?
Australia is world-renowned for its warm weather and sunny climate, that’s why solar power makes a lot of sense environmentally as well as financially. Once your panels are installed they start providing all the energy that you need without any additional monthly fees or other operational costs!
Over the operational lifetime of the system, which is 25 years on average, the solar system can offer significant savings on household energy expenses by ensuring a clean renewable resource on a continuous basiscription.
Will I save money by choosing solar?
Many solar companies will provide guaranteed savings. The amount of money you can save with solar depends upon how much electricity you consume, the size of your system and how much sunlight hits it.
It is generally recommended to do basic, low-cost energy efficiency upgrades ahead of solar installation. This can help you reduce your utility bills and may also allow you to reduce how much you spend on solar installation. By using Energy Star appliances and making other efficient upgrades in your home, you may need fewer solar panels to power your home.
Will my solar system need maintenance?
Solar is a simple, minimum-maintenance technology. Unlike other energy technologies, solar contains no moving parts. You shouldn't have to replace your panels at all during their lifetime, which usually are under warranty for 20-25 years. In areas with less rain and lots of dust or pollutants in the air, occasional cleaning may improve performance.
Wiring is the part of solar PV that most commonly requires maintenance because animals may tamper with it. Solar panels generate direct current energy. A piece of equipment called an inverter converts that energy to alternating current, which is what your appliances use. Depending on your inverter type, you may need to have your inverter replaced 10 to 12 years after installation. Extended warranties can cover this equipment replacement cost, and many installers will offer maintenance plans.
Does Solas offer a pre install review?
We provide a remote survey via Zoom in advance of your install.
Our Solas Technicians will then conduct a site survey when they arrive on the day of your install.
Am I eligible for a grant, rebate or loan?
Yes. All installations under 100kW (and systems with an annual electricity output of less than 250MWh) are eligible for Small-Scale Technology Certificates, or STCs for short. You’re eligible for STCs whether you’ve previously accessed a rebate or not. It’s also not means-tested and is accessible by everyone.
The solar PV system or product you purchase in order to receive STCs must adhere to the Clean Energy Council (CEC) design and install guidelines, only use panels and inverters on the CEC approved list, comply with the relevant standards (like AS 4777), and be installed by a CEC accredited installer, which Solas is.
In addition to STCs, your state may offer an additional rebate or program. These rebates differ between regions, so it’s worthwhile investigating what solar rebates apply in your area.
When should I upgrade my solar system?
If your bills are high and you’re not selling many kWh back to your retailer, you could look at migrating to a bigger system. Both these figures are available on your energy bill, so it’s not difficult to use the available data to make an informed decision.
Just be mindful of seasonality - if you have an east/west installation and you’re thinking of upgrading after getting a winter bill, wait until you see the results of the better performing months before you make a decision.
Are Solas' solar systems certified?
They are.
In a market flooded with substandard and even potentially dangerous imports, Australians must be vigilant when choosing their solar energy products.
We only install solar PV panels and inverters accredited by the Clean Energy Council – Australia’s peak body for clean energy.
Plus, our qualified service technicians are specially trained to install solar power both safety and efficiently, ensuring that your system is installed with the highest standards of quality and safety.
