A Bokashi unit is a fantastic way to reduce your household waste and turn food scraps (even meat and dairy) into a garden superfood that puts the good stuff back into your soil. Our unit is hygienic, easy to use in your kitchen and has been developed to match our Tanova Designer Series pull out kitchen bins. It's responsible, safe, sustainable... and rewarding too!
Estimates are that more than 229, 000 tonnes of New Zealand’s annual landfill waste is food (that’s more than 400 Olympic sized swimming pools!) and 50% of that is avoidable. Australian estimates are that 4 million tonnes of food ends up as landfill, enough to fill 8,400 Olympic sized swimming pools!
Saves money too: New Zealand estimates suggest it costs more than $870 million per year to dispose of avoidable food waste to landfill, and the Australian government calculates that food waste costs the economy $20 billion per year.
Tanova's Bokashi unit:
- reduces your household’s carbon footprint and contribution to greenhouse gas pollution.
- is comprehensive; it can take ALL food waste, even meat and dairy.
- is airtight so creates anaerobic (no oxygen) fermentation; so no icky odours.
- is faster than traditional composting.
