The Viking Buzon system, as seen on The Block NZ 2019, comprises of a series of screw-jack pedestals that support floating deck surfaces (either timber planks, pavers or tiles) in either construction or landscaping situations. Used mostly to support deck surfaces, Buzon pedestals can ensure the exterior deck surface is supported at the same height as the interior floor level whilst still allowing rainfall to drain through to the substrate below. For the NZ Building Code’s current standards for E2 (external moisture), this needs to be a minimum of 100mm below the building’s interior floor slab level.
Viking Buzon Pedestal System creates a stunning, yet functional outdoor entertainment space. The practicality and durability of this system is essential when a seamless indoor/outdoor flow is not negotiable for a residential or commercial building.
Claude Buzon developed the world’s first pedestal in 1984 and today, his company Buzon World, continues to lead the way in pedestal technology. Viking Buzon pedestals have both height (up to one metre high) and slope adjustment (up to 5% = 3 degrees) , allowing for the substrate to slope away from the building, while the external deck surface emulates the interior floor level, being perfectly flat at zero degrees.
