About Roller Blinds products

ArchiPro’s collection of window blinds contains only carefully selected products from only reputable suppliers in Australia. Roller blinds can be made from everything from plastic to metal to wood, so it’s important to think about which material best suits your needs. There are also water resistant nylon and polyester blinds which are great for use as bathroom roller blinds, while heat-resistant materials such as PVC and aluminium make for excellent kitchen roller blinds.

Roller blinds provide an easy, tidy and compact solution for blinds, conveniently rolling up when not in use. Although most roller blinds are made of fabric, these days other options, such as wood and thermally insulated composites, are becoming more popular. These blinds are available in different types: single roller blinds, double roller blinds, blackout roller blinds which are great to block the sunlight and increase privacy. ArchiPro has made it easy for you to choose your new blinds with its handpicked, high quality selection from trusted suppliers across Australia.

Cotton roller blinds

Cotton roller blinds have the advantage of being undamaged by creasing or folding. White roller blinds made of cotton are perfect for keeping the summer heat out while letting a breeze drift through. The colours roller blinds come in can be checked against wall and window finishes when choosing a fabric.

Bamboo roller blinds

Bamboo roller blinds add a tropical, natural feel to any room. As well as warming up the decor of the room, bamboo is an excellent insulator.

Blackout roller blinds

Blackout roller blinds block any light from passing through. Dark navy or black roller blinds with a blackout backing are excellent for when you need a space to be calm and dark. A blackout roller shade is suited to rooms where limiting daylight is a priority, including bedrooms and media rooms. Sheer roller blinds use translucent fabric to filter daylight while retaining some view through the window.

The advantages of high-quality roller blinds

High quality roller blinds are often a better choice due to the fact they are made of sturdier materials. The higher the quality of the material the blind itself is made of, the more even the weave is going to be. This is particularly important when curtains are designed to block all light. A small roller blind can suit a narrow sash or compact window where a full-width blind would be unnecessary.

Higher quality roller blinds also use stronger parts in the rolling mechanism. While some plastic parts may fade or degrade in the sun, higher quality plastics or metals will resist sun damage for much longer, an extremely important trait in Australia. Blinds with side tracks can help limit light gaps at the edges of a window, subject to the opening and blind system.

How to choose roller blinds that are right for you

When choosing blinds, roller blinds or venetian blinds for example, it’s always important to know what you need them to achieve. Do you need blinds that will block all light? Or do you want blinds that can be adjusted to vary the amount of light that enters the room? Which materials do you find visually appealing? You’ll also need to take precise measurements to be sure your blinds will fit the space as required. Some manufacturers can provide sample patches of the blind material, so you can see how it looks when placed in the room the blinds will be installed in which is a useful thing to do before a final purchase. Add blind accessories to give your windows more style and functionality. There are many options for your blinds, such as Roman blinds which consist of soft fabric panels that fold up in sections, vertical blinds with long, elegant drop, honeycomb blinds,  or shutters which are solid blinds made of wood or metal. Consider roller blinds for doors where the blind needs to clear a handle or other hardware around the opening.

Roller blinds for sliding doors need accurate measurements so the blind fits the opening without interfering with the door’s operation.

How much gap does a roller blind need?

If you are installing the blind over the top of the window, it’s best to make the roller 5 cm wider and longer than the windows, to stop light leaking around the edges. If your blind is fitted inside the window frame, you want to leave at least 3 mm between the blind and the window frame on all sides to prevent jamming. Too much of a gap will let more light in around the sides.

Do roller blinds keep heat out?

Yes, roller blinds can be very efficient at keeping heat out. Some materials will do a better job than others.
