A custom home builder with a set of floor plans, huh?

You may be wondering why we have these available. These 50+ floor plans we’ve had since the very beginning in 2011 when we first started our business and not once have we built EXACT – that’s so not the purpose. We also haven’t done a repeat either, every single home is different, new and a true custom.

The reason we have these is a stepping stone, the idea builder, the tick box for elements you love to be able to get going with the planning stages. When we first started, very few building companies revealed their floor plans, now adays floor plans are a plenty, if you search the term ‘custom floor plan’ on Pinterest there are 9.1 million listed possibilities so it’s like finding a needle in a hay stack – right? That’s why each of our floor plans are listed within their price categories to give you some idea of what you are able to achieve. Many of our clients come to the initial meeting with a mixture of our floor plans, taking the exterior from one, the cladding from another, the layout from a different category and then we go from there to customize their dream. We even see printed, cut and pasted versions all mapped out ready to head off to the architects with straight away.

‘Eco Friendly’ is an easy word too throw around, a buzz word as such. We exist to have a social impact, and prefer to be recognised as Eco Conscious, and here’s why.

– 3.1 billion tons of waste are going to landfill every single year from NZ alone
– Traditional timber and its site practices mean that waste is a by product and normality

Our steel frames arrive direct from production with all the pre drilled service holes for plumbing and wiring ready to go. Coming from the central North Island and travelling a short distance, in just one load an entire home’s purpose made frames are ready to be stood on site in a day. Like a giant jigsaw puzzle the steel is put together with Tec screws that are 7 x stronger than a single nail and they won’t ever rust. The steel framework is light, quick and quick for all of our upcoming subtrades. Not to mention perfectly straight.

If you didn’t know, timber used for residential dwellings is felled from NZ forests and hauled all across the land before being deported to other countries, such as Asia. It is then brought back into NZ where all timber is fumigated at port for decontamination and each year the cost of timber rises by a further 7% increase. The chemically treated timber is fully laced with methyl bromide which then forms the very walls that hold your home up and that eventually leaches back into your families living quarters.

Most houses are built with wood, so why be different? Why build with steel?

Well, there are many benefits for you and your family. The price of timber frames and steel frames for the average Kiwi house is very similar. But that’s where the similarities end. If two products are similar in cost, but one gives you heaps of extra value, which would you choose?

We all want the same thing – peace of mind that our homes, usually our biggest financial asset and the walls that contain our loved ones and prized possessions are well constructed, cost effective and will stand the test of time, all while being environmentally friendly. Light weight Steel framing has now been used in New Zealand for over five decades. Steel framed houses have also been tested to withstand a 9 on the richter scale, this video is long but a must see if you are thinking about building.

Kate brings the ideas, and Lee the brains behind the family run business that started back in 2011. Born from our own adventures in the property game, we wanted to be able to share what we knew with others. From floor plans, to exterior finishes and kitchen lay outs that weren’t just another repeat. We knew there must be a way to get exactly what you want in a home, without a million dollar price tag (even if you are a First Home Buyer).

Harry.
Head Builder

Harry has been building since he left school, doing the hard yards to now leading our pack for the past 5 years, Harry is our Head Builder and doesn’t stand for any rubbish. Watch out, he was a pro wrestler prior and will head lock you if he feels the need!  

Pati.
Qualified Builder

Pati came on board after loving how we operated during work experience placement. It has been a joy to grow him from a labourer through to an apprentice and now qualified builder. When Pati is not hard at work he is busy representing NZ in the Sevens Touch Team.  

Ned.
Apprentice Builder

Ned is a Personal Trainer by trade, he brings muscle and the power of ten men too site. Ned can be found competing at Strong Man Competitions at the weekend and never misses the chance to put in a hard day of work.

We don’t need a seven step process or a twelve point checklist to build.

And you don’t need to either, your job during the build is to go to work each day and enjoy your weekends, our job is to run the tight ship and literally build your dreams.

Here’s how it goes in a nutshell, and after almost a decade of doing it this way we turn beautiful and on budget homes every time.

one.

– Hunt / purchase land with finance discussions / lenders if required
– Floor plan begins to evolve: your home, your way.
– Meet + greet to decipher what is achievable for the section size and potential price point of the land + build.

two.

– Form wish list + non negotiable items that you must have and desire seeing most in your home.
– Exterior and interior spec list derived to compliment your budget (it’s your money after all)
– Sign a letter of intent to build, draft plans proceed.

three.

– Sign contract for fixed price + secure a construction slot.
– Planning begins alongside the working drawings.
– We offer and insist on a complete hand holding the entire way through your build from truss placement to tap ware you won’t be left unsure or unknowing.
