With our in-house architectural designer Neil McMillan, we can take your project from initial design all the way to through construction. ​

Residential & Passive House
Building new homes is a cornerstone of what we do. We can

We are certified builders of Passive Houses - super energy-efficient, healthy, quiet homes built using European technologies.

Commercial, Retail & Civil
Commercial construction is a core component of our business, but we have also dug out (pun intended) a solid reputation for our civil infrastructure work. 

We are experienced in both large scale and smaller projects and have a sound understanding of how to best manage the unique Southern environment. 

We bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to each project and have a strong established relationship with engineers, designers, project managers and subcontractors.

Design-Build
To clients requiring design-build services, we offer solid experience in wide-span construction and high-quality workmanship. 

Whether you are looking to build a farm shed, barn, steel garage or a workshop, we can provide you with a wraparound service of:

• resource consent (including planning, research and drawings)
• budget, elemental and feasibility costings and, of course

Kitset Assembly & Garden Sheds
We are preferred local builders for She Sheds (also known as Fort Group), providing the foundation and kitset assembly services of small outbuildings: garden sheds, "man caves", backyard studios and similar.

Passive House (also spelt PassivHaus in its original European form) is an internationally recognised building standard which delivers a house that, compared to a conventional New Zealand home, consumes 75%-90% less energy for heating and cooling. It has:

• consistent temperature throughout the home (average 20 C, winter or summer),
• continuous filtration of fresh air,
• no mould or condensation anywhere,
• allergy-free healthy environment.

We are bringing Passive Houses to Southland in collaboration with eHaus - a PassivHaus design and construction company who are redefining the way kiwis live one home at a time.

PassivHaus buildings may look "normal" from the outside - but on the inside, they not only perform far more efficiently, but they feel better, too: they are quiet, warm and fresh-smelling.

Passive Houses are slowly making their way onto our Southern landscape. It is perhaps because of our conservative nature that uptake of Passive House solutions has been slower than other parts of New Zealand. At the moment, we are seeing the drive for Passive Houses coming (predominantly) from people who are moving South from larger cities - or have come from overseas, particularly Europe. They are bringing their desire for warm, healthy buildings with them.
