We design and make what you can’t find elsewhere; custom made entertainment units, bookcases, dining tables, wardrobes, sideboards, rocking chairs, jewellery boxes, toys - whatever you need; we can make it. About Joey Chalk
Joey Chalk, Furniture Designer
Joey’s father and grandfather were both carpenters, so it's no surprise it was a calling that would find its way through Joey.
As a little lad, Joey would fasten on his number 8 wire builders belt and imitate his dad on building sites. He spent his free time in the workshop making boats and kites and fashioning bows and arrows as he grew.
As a teenager building with his dad on-site is where his love of craftsmanship evolved.
“Working on older homes where you could see the pride the original carpenter had in his work. Matching the new work seamlessly in the old style, so you would never know that the new doorway or extension hadn’t been there all along,” Joey says.
Today, he does what he loves most, owning and operating Kingpost Timberworks with workshop assistant Nik and his wife Holly. Crafting high-quality handcrafted furniture and custom finishings and fixtures.
A custom furniture and cabinetry firm dedicated to designing and building timber heirlooms that will last for generations to come.
”My grandad Arthur Chalk was a master carpenter. He built planes for test pilots during World War Two. After that, he made plywood rowing skiffs and beautiful oak furniture, some of which I have today. I am a third-generation carpenter, something I am very proud of,” Joey says. “I reckon it’s this history that gives me the passion for what I do.”
