BRUNSDON STUDIO

NIC BRUNSDON acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land and pays respect to the Elders, past and present. We honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ primary cultural and spiritual relationship to place and their rich contribution to our society. To that end, all our work seeks to uphold if that we care for Country, it will care of us.

Our Vision

To enrich people's lives through thoughtfully designed architecture.

Our Values

• PRIORITISE PEOPLE
We put people first; our team, our clients and collaborators and the communities in which we work.

• LIVE GENEROUSLY
We give our time and expertise to create and cultivate the exceptional.

• SPEAK HONESTLY
We communicate truthfully with purpose and focus. Our actions follow our words.

Our Design Philosophy

• RESPONSIVE
Architecture responds to both place and people.

• EMOTIVE
Spaces that evoke emotion become memorable.

• INCLUSIVE
Projects are based on a process of inclusivity.

We have a diverse and highly skilled team, with capacities, capabilities and experience across all project stages. All members of our practice are strong designers, ensuring that design resolution is enhanced through the participation of all team members.

Our approach to design is holistic and fully interdisciplinary, prioritising the concept as well as the detail. We value everyone’s point of view and contribution to the studio.

We are a team without borders and work together from offices in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne.

INDUSTRY INVOLVEMENT
We are members of state and national industry bodies. Our memberships include the Property Council of Australia, Association of Consulting Architects and Australian Institute of Architects.

B-CORP CERTIFICATION
At NIC BRUNSDON, we are in the final stages of our B-Corp certification; with the final round of corporate assessment now underway. We expect confirmation of this certification by Q2, 2022.

Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.

RECONCILIATION ACTION PLAN
Reconciliation Australia has formally endorsed our studio's “Reflect” Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) which can be found on our website.

The RAP allows us to demonstrate publicly to our staff and clients that we are committed to the process of reconciliation and keeps us accountable for making change within our business and the broader industry.

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT
NIC BRUNSDON has been carbon neutral for over three years, and to date, we have offset 23.7 tonnes of CO2-e.

Previously, our studio obtained certification through GreenFleet, one of the longest established carbon offset providers in Australia. This year, we conducted a carbon audit and researched local carbon sequestration projects to offset our unavoidable carbon emissions.

Our studio has chosen to support Australia's only 'Gold Standard' Carbon offset project, The Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor, as it aligns with our values. Biodiversity focused revegetation projects capture carbon and provide habitat for endangered wildlife, helping to counter the devastating impacts of climate change. This project also supports the local community by creating jobs, providing training opportunities, utilising local suppliers and through continual engagement with the Traditional Owners of the project site.
