After studying graphic design for 2 years in the early 80's, my passion for photography drew me to work for one of Christchurch's leading studios at that time until the mid 90's.

Then forming a partnership with another photographer in 1995, I opened a studio and custom black and white printing service.

In 2001, I decided to work for my self and operate as a free lance photographer, it was a lucrative move, as in that same year I won New Zealand Editorial Photographer of the year.

The following year I was fortunate to win New Zealand Landscape Photographer of the Year, and also New Zealand's Premier Photography accolade, New Zealand Professional Photographer of the Year for 2002, with a series of architectural images.

The awards continued in 2003 winning New Zealand Architectural Photographer of the year and also becoming a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography.

Then in 2005 winning New Zealand Champion Black and White photograph of the Year.

I was operating from a two story Art Deco building in Christchurch's city centre, where I also lived with my family, until the Earthquakes in Feb 2011.

Never able to return to our building although it survived the earthquakes, it was taken by the crown and demolished mid 2014 as they wanted the land for future development. A friend operating just outside the city centre took me into his studio space, which I now share.

My work appears in many Magazines, such as Taste, Next, Dish, Urbis, Trends, Architecture New Zealand, Houses New Zealand, and also for several magazines and publishers in Australia, the US, UK, Japan, Indonesia and Italy.

I also work on advertising campaigns through agencies in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland, and travel throughout New Zealand and Australia on assignments. I'm a contributor to www.photonewzealand.com New Zealand's Leading Photo Agency.
