At Tham Architects, we are an innovative firm based in Sydney & Melbourne with a primary focus in the Residential Sector - from small scale extension to large scale multi residential and mixed used developments.  commercial, fitouts and educational projects!

OUR DESIGNS ARE NEVER PRECONCEIVED

We generate ideas and options to collaborate with our clients to create unique concepts and design opportunities that targets the brief.

When you design with us, you deal directly with the same Registered Architect through out the whole process. All design, coordination, 3D exploration,  documentation and collaboration will be created by and dealt directly with Ophelia. - the company founder and Registered Architect. 

Our goal is to create an architectural art with an holistic approach, inclusively working along side with our clients. We understand that architecture doesn't stop at the building:  there is the immediate landscape that compliments the building, the user that interacts within the building and the contextual environment that connects the building with the user.

There is also a strong belief that designs should be aesthetically pleasing yet a practical component must be carefully considered. We love designing buildings that simply belong!

Ophelia Tham

• Ophelia is a Registered Architect ( in New South Wales and Victoria) with over 11 years of experience in the residential sector. As one of Australia’s youngest Architect to obtain her registration (at 24yo), she has worked with some of NSW’s and VIC most dedicated Architectural Professionals.
  
  Her career began in the high end private residential homes (Inner West and Lower North Shore of Sydney) before moving to a developer's focus client based (all over Sydney and Melbourne)  where she lead a team of architects, interior designers, engineers producing multi residential and award wining mixed used projects.
  
  Today, she runs her bespoke company while also being a mother to her 2 young children​ (3 yo and  1 yo). She is on a constant lookout on new and interesting way of creating spaces and experimenting on designing the perfect balance for a form and function family home (and other typologies too!)
  
  Her passion of design exceeds past Architecture - where she runs an online business from her home in Surrey Hills ( Living Etch) - specialising in custom personalised decors, gifts and keepsake that can provide that extra touch to your home décor.
  She believes that Architecture should allow the occupier to understand and relate to the building both physically and emotionally. ​Her demonstrated commitment and determination is what make her such a valuable asset to any project she is involved with.

Why we're different (home designs)

• We don't just design something purely to tick your brief. We understand you, your ways and your daily interaction to ensure we design a home that works for you. The design is for YOU. not us. Our design process is a 2 way process. We listen and design something to suit you while maintaining a quality architectural standard.
  
  
• We work during the hours that work best for our client. The director is a mother of 3 young children with majority of our client base also with young children (We specialise in creating family homes!) we believe that our communication should not be constrained to Monday to Friday 9 -5. Each project is different and we discuss how we can work productively together. We even catered a client who lived overseas in a different time zone!
  
  
• You deal directly with one person through the whole process. They are your point of contact, the designer, the drafter and project coordinator.
  
  
• We absolutely love what we do. We love it so much that our partner thinks we are having an affair with architecture!
