Thermosash
Manufacturers and Suppliers
About us
Thermosash is New Zealand’s largest commercial window, curtainwall, total clad façade designer, manufacturer and contractor - local since 1973.
As a world class supplier of engineered façades, we provide, through constant evolution of our product range, systems that are trusted and proven.
“Our work at Thermosash is critical to the building industry. Our prefabricated design specific engineered building envelopes shape the appearance of our skylines: offering comfort to occupants from heat and cold, protection from the elements, respite from the acoustic discomfort of busy cities and pleasure to those who appreciate the built environment”. David Hayes, Group Managing Director.
Our growth since 1973 demonstrates that the strength we offer the building industry is underpinned by supplying quality, long lasting, engineered building envelope systems. Our ability to meet tight lead times and on-site programmes, our acceptance of transfer of design responsibility, our engineering, manufacturing, logistics and on-site capabilities, together with our team’s passion and quality service commitment enables us to remain at the forefront of the facade subcontracting industry.
Our Expertise
Thermosash’s abilities have grown since its 1973 start-up when Laurie Hayes and his colleagues manufactured commercial windows out of a small production facility. It quickly became apparent that the products and skills of the workforce were creating a performing quality, flexible product that the market sought.
Over time, our teams of dedicated and committed people have grown, this has been possible through constant reassessment of internal and external processes and manufacturing methods from around the world. We’ve also provided ongoing reinvestment in the training of our people to ensure lean process, IT Systems, material handling machinery and transport logistics equipment, as well as design office and factory production process improvements. We are able to offer a world class company with manufacturing facilities in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
Our Offering
We offer an end-to-end integrated facade solution from conception to completion. We have an extensive range of cost effective, high performance rainscreen, pressure equalised window, door and façade solutions to suit any commercial project. Our products are incorporated in high-rise office blocks, apartment buildings, shopping centres, airports, institutions, hotels, industrial complexes and quality architectural homes.
In addition to offering bespoke façade solutions for new builds, we are experts in recladding, rainscreen over-cladding and the refurbishment of existing façades.
Our History
TODAY
Façade engineer and Group Managing Director, David Hayes, heads up Thermosash Commercial Ltd. We have offices in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Our head office and main manufacturing unit operates from Henderson, Auckland - one of the most modern operations in Australasia with state-of-the-art imported automated machinery.
We operate as part of the Thermosash Group of Companies which includes Woods Glass, Insite Facades and WEC.
The building industry, particularly over the last decade, has passed more and more responsibility with performance specifications, tight lead times and fast track construction programmes onto the metal window industry. Due to the level of expertise required, and the technology available today, we have made major investments in plant and technical/professional staff to keep abreast with this demand. This has given us a competitive advantage within the industry.
We are proud to be 100% New Zealand owned and operated. For over 50 years we have turned concepts into buildings of excellence that stand the test of time and enrich our cities.
We continue to pursue innovation and expertise to be a single provider of value and durable world class building envelope solutions; to build stunning buildings across New Zealand and abroad.

Our promise
There are few companies in the construction industry that can proudly state that since incorporation they have been operating under the same single business structure.
Our promise to you is that a Thermosash Building Envelope Solution™ will be the best commercial window envelope solution available. We will achieve this by developing long term relationships with our suppliers, customers and achieving the aspirations of all our people. Customer satisfaction is paramount to ensure repeat business using systems that are tried, tested and proven, enabling us to confidently offer the longest recognised warranties for building envelope solutions available in the New Zealand market.
Environmental
It is well documented that the New Zealand Commercial Construction industry is responsible for over 50% of waste disposed to landfills. Records from 2006 state that this equates to 1.578 million tonnes.* Report: Environment New Zealand 2007
Thermosash manufactures all our façade components in New Zealand, and primarily source materials were available from the New Zealand market.
The exception being glass, flat aluminium sheet and some other small percentage components, where there is no manufacturing industry in New Zealand.
Aluminium
Thermosash extruded aluminium holds Toitū Carbonreduce certification and we are approved as a partner of the accredited Toitū scheme - making our aluminium commercial unitised curtainwall suites one of the lowest C02e/kg* systems readily available in New Zealand.

Re-use
The design life of a Thermosash unitised curtainwall façade system, if maintained according to our Operations and Maintenance Schedule, should well exceed 50+ years.
However, should the system need to be removed earlier in its design life we are able to facilitate this. As an example, Thermosash upcycled a curtainwall facade from a post 2016 Kaikoura earthquake, structurally damaged, building. The BNZ Harbour Quay building facade (Thermosash completed in 2009) was removed and re-installed on the Wellington Children’s Hospital plus other buildings.
Thermosash gifted and installed the upcylced PW1000 Unitised curtainwall on the Wellington Regional Children's Hospital which was completed in 2022.
