Designed to create a bold architectural presence within the Melbourne skyline, the elegantly framed glass façade geometry will be activated by LED lighting at night acting as a proud beacon for visitors and residents alike.

Nestled in a prestigious inner-city enclave, with both the CBD and Fisherman’s Bend on its doorstep, AC Hotel by Marriott brings together the very best of Melbourne living in one sculptural landmark address. Close to public transport, Crown Casino, South Wharf shops and eateries, the Arts precinct, and other first-class amenities, AC Hotel by Marriott offers everything guests need for a memorable stay.

The building has been designed to create a bold architectural presence within the Melbourne skyline. The elegantly framed glass façade geometry will be activated by LED lighting at night acting as a proud beacon for visitors and residents alike. A sculptural canopy creates an iconic entry to the AC Marriott Hotel and the 105 apartments contained within. The angular geometry of the façade gives movement to the building, with jewel-like facets reflecting the changing sunlight throughout the day – from sunrise to sunset, the building exhibits subtle colour changes.

True to the brand, the AC Marriott hotel features a range of collaborative spaces including the AC Lounge, a modern co-working space for creative gatherings by day and a buzzing social hub offering European-style tapas by night. The hotel will also offer a range of leisure facilities, including an outdoor, infinity-edge swimming pool spanning the width of the building, a 24-hour fitness centre and various bars, dining areas and function rooms. Meeting and event organisers will be able to take advantage of 150m2 of space designed to welcome groups of all sizes. The hotel aims to redefine what a luxury experience really means for today’s travellers.

Unlike a conventional hotel where check-in is typically on the ground floor, guests visiting AC by Marriott will experience the joy of discovery as they proceed up the building. Upon arrival at Level 7, the stunning city views are framed by the architecture in the AC Lounge. Designed for connection and interaction, guests can sit back and relax or work on their laptops in an atmosphere designed for cosiness high above the city bustle.

In the hotel rooms, the materials and finishes selected focus on quality while capturing the human desires of comfort and relaxation. The subtle layering of materiality with modern classic finishes such as natural stone tiling, warm textured timber, metal details, soft layers of drapery and brass accents all create a sense of calm with little moments of delight. The resulting atmosphere reflects the industrial warehouse scenes of South Melbourne while echoing the AC brand’s Spanish roots.

AC Hotel by Marriott is a bold addition to Melbourne’s skyline, set to redefine inner suburban living and attract sophisticated and discerning travellers to the Southbank area.

DKO is a multi-disciplinary, award-winning design practice centred on creating ingenious spaces that are driven by the needs of the user, site opportunities and the dynamic process of translating design intent into built outcomes. Founded in 2000 by Principal Koos de Keijzer, its operations have expanded from Melbourne to studios in Sydney, Perth, Auckland, Ho Chi Minh City, and Brisbane. DKO has remained committed to the same underlying principles since day one. Its multiple teams spread across the Asia-Pacific region are solidly united behind the same grounded and humble approach taken to each project, big or small.

Keeping minds open to any possibility, DKO always focuses on finding the best idea, regardless of where it came from. By encouraging the personal growth of each individual within the organisation, DKO plans to become a globally oriented entity, consistently forging ahead in both business and creative objectives. DKO embraces the role of architecture in shaping a more sustainable future. As a practice, it never loses sight of the most fundamental quality that connects all great design – people. Through human understanding and nurture, DKO seeks to continually maximise its potential and deliver architecture at its utmost excellence.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
