Algies Bay House banner

The Sandspit House is a contemporary home located on a sloping hillside opposite a sheltered bay. The brief required a home which would provide a home for the owners in their retirement and also act as a holiday home for their adult children and young grand children.

The design raises the living areas up above the road, providing single level indoor and outdoor spaces which overlook the bay beyond, and capture all day sun around the home. All rooms connect to a central garden courtyard, which provides sea views through the house and privacy from the road below. Guest bedrooms all have direct connection to the garden courtyards.

A luxurious master suite sits above, providing a private retreat separate from the rest of the home, and connected by a feature glazed stairwell. A low maintenance pallete of white rendered precast walls, and polished concrete slab is offset with cedar elements providing a classic coastal aesthetic.
