Our Client wanted to convert an existing american style barn in to a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom home with an open plan kitchen dining lounge, keeping the barn's style and creating a rustic industrial design with indoor outdoor flow.

​Following our client brief and design we created an open plan home, with a large open plan kitchen, dining, lounge, having great indoor/outdoor flow with large bi-fold windows and doors to really open the space up. Having kept the posts and beams exposed and polishing the concrete floor, the home has an industrial and rustic feel in keeping with the homes previous life as a farm shed. We used the high ceiling space to our advantage to create an open freedom feeling and we created a mezzanine above the bedroom as a chill-out zone and extra storage space. 

The stunning tiled shower bath combination is a great use of the limited bathroom space and creating a truly unique feature. As the barn had a limited supply of power, we added additional insulation and installed solar panels and battery storage to make the most of the barn all day sun, creating a low cost sustainable home.
