Timeless contemporary additions and alterations to a Queenslander home, enhancing heritage features while embracing modern functionality and the subtropical Brisbane climate.
Reflecting its Gordon Park locality, B Residence involved additions and alterations to an existing Queenslander home with a timeless contemporary finish. The client's brief was to create a home that maintained the integrity of the original structure, with relaxed and modern functionality. This timeless design responds to the subtropical climate of Brisbane by elevating spaces, and re-instating existing elements with new additions; uplifting the traditional Queenslander character archetype.
This contemporary Queenslander home highlights existing heritage style whilst introducing a minimal palette of natural light, materials, and clean lines proving that opening the communal areas of a house can enhance characteristic values of the existing house and its period features. The existing art deco fretwork and high feature plaster ceilings that complement the new bespoke details have created a contemporary Queenslander for a modern family.
