Backyard Verandah banner

We took a boring, exposed backyard and turned it into an all weather entertainers area with this patio and verandah build. The land had to be graded, a retaining wall built, underground plumbing fitted on top of the usual work required to build a verandah. In the planning of the Verandah we wanted to engineer a structure that would keep the elements away from the party but still allow sunlight and airflow. By using roof extender brackets for the top anchor point of the roof structure we were able to give that desired crossflow. As the structure was quite lengthy, we utilised scarf joints to reinforce the stability and structure of the beams as well as concrete posts for the vertical beams to adhere to on the ground. Once the structure was done it was time to make it pretty with potlights, plaster, roofing and patio stones.

The Barking Axe is a family run company that produces custom woodwork, joinery & furniture

Our focus is on one of a kind pieces including custom built ins, unique furniture, staircases and anything that requires a woodworker from concept and design to installation. We also excel in elements of metal work integrated into our projects.

Our range is quite large as we do small joinery projects as well as large scale shop fitting and feature walls. From farmhouse to modern, we cater to every aesthetic and style.

We are an Australian based company that was first established in Canada in 2017 with a focus on bringing quality and custom craftsmanship that stands the test of time. Our name comes from one of the tools used by lumberjacks to strip bark off of logs in the early 1900's. Companies would pay more for peeled lumber, thus making this particular axe an important blade in the lumberjacks repertoire.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
