Commissioned by the City of Boroondara, the new facility is home to the Balwyn Park Tennis Club, Balwyn Tigers Football Club, University of the Third Age and other community interest groups. The facility combines many varied uses in its small footprint: a clubroom, multipurpose teaching and learning spaces, a commercial kitchen, offices and the all-important trophy and display cabinets.

Below the athletic roof form, muscular and poised, the textured brick walls are punctuated with ample windows, lending views inward and outward toward the unfolding match. Inside, circulation revolves around a central stair, articulated with seating and a court-inspired enclosure. Although brick is the hero, interiors are announced with a splash of colour, reminiscent of red leather and fresh turf.

Krause Bricks has been a family owned and run business since 1945. The traditional craftsmanship and methods of clay brickmaking have been passed down through three generations, with each one adding their own innovations and modernisations.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
