The Construction of Bannockburn Skatepark: A Look into the Progress Before you can build something, you must first have a plan. The same is true for a skatepark. After careful planning by Convic, skatepark specialists, the construction of the Bannockburn Skatepark was handed over to Greysea Landscape Group to project management to completion. The skatepark introduced a concept for a skateable concrete volcano, kicker to kicker, and other elements to produce an original design for Golden Plains Shire.

Now finished, the skatepark has introduced an exciting new place for the community to hang out with friends, practice tricks and meet new people. Let’s take a look at where we are now with construction and the steps leading up to this moment...

Who project managed the new skatepark?
The Bannockburn Skatepark was constructed by Greysea Landscape Group, a project managed from start to completion by Leon Moore. With extensive experience in concrete skatepark construction, the team was able to deliver the project in only 6 weeks. We set about the demolition of the existing basketball court to make way for the new skatepark that was designed by the Convic skate team. Working closely with Golden Plains Council, together with numerous plumbers and electricians the plans were brought to life with various skate elements from kickers to concrete open-end bowls. However, everything being new was not the overall goal. We set about preserving the large trees surrounding the new development, whilst revitalising the landscape with rock walls, swales and introducing drainage and lighting to the surrounding area. Greysea Landscape Group introduced various other elements including steel shade structures with built-in USB charges for locals to utilise, lockers and concrete seating together with drink fountains and bike hoops. The pathways and steppers around the new park were finished in the exposed aggregate to give texture and variety to the materials used while ensuring the whole development worked seamlessly from a design aspect. How has the new skatepark been received? The new skatepark has been very well received! The community is really excited about the new features and the improved design. We've seen a huge increase in the number of people using the park and everyone seems to be having a great time.
