As interior designers, our vision was to create a series of calm, luminous spaces that would both celebrate and soften the home’s robust architectural form. Working with clients deeply rooted in the natural stone industry, the interiors became an opportunity to hero craftsmanship — using stone not as ornament, but as an architectural language. Every slab of travertine and Calacatta Viola marble was hand-selected and positioned to form continuous visual rhythms, allowing the material to tell its own story.

Warm timber detailing, brushed nickel accents and soft lime-washed walls counterbalance the stone’s cool strength, introducing a quiet sense of intimacy. The palette remains intentionally neutral, with layers of texture — honed, ribbed, and polished — defining the tactile experience. Natural light plays a central role, washing across curved surfaces and deep thresholds to emphasise volume and depth throughout the day.

The kitchen and main living zones are designed as a cohesive suite, encouraging connection between cooking, dining and entertaining. A double-height void amplifies light and air flow, while custom joinery conceals practical storage to preserve the home’s minimal purity.

Barker Residence is ultimately a study in restraint — a refined and deeply personal family home that honours the permanence of natural materials while embracing contemporary coastal living. The result is an interior that feels effortless and enduring, a true reflection of Sici Design’s ethos of modern Mediterranean elegance and architectural integrity.
