Every now and then we have a new client approach us at Drake Design with an open mind to great new ideas and challenges us in how modern or contemporary they want their house to look. This project was no exception.

Armed with the clients primary vision of a resplendent ‘butterfly’ roof form, the design team were tasked with a challenge that was openly embraced to create a contemporary and modern form that was to inspire the neighbourhood.

Taking inspiration from the roof form, the use of strong vertical forms such as the entry feature blockwork wall and glazing helped articulate the massing and soften the massing to the streets.

The clean modern lines and modernist forms were utilised to implement a modern contemporary design, which was further strengthened by using muted tones throughout the external material palette to be harmonious with the surrounding setting.
