Brisbane Butterfly

Every now and then we have a new client approach us at Drake Design with an open mind to great new ideas and challenges us in how modern or contemporary they want their house to look. This project was no exception. Armed with the clients primary vision of a resplendent ‘butterfly’ roof form, the design team were tasked with a challenge that was openly embraced to create a contemporary and modern form that was to inspire the neighbourhood. Taking inspiration from the roof form, the use of strong vertical forms such as the entry feature blockwork wall and glazing helped articulate the massing and soften the massing to the streets. The clean modern lines and modernist forms were utilised to implement a modern contemporary design, which was further strengthened by using muted tones throughout the external material palette to be harmonious with the surrounding setting. When it comes to your dream home, there’s no need to compromise, and any great designer will be able to marry your brief with the challenges surrounding site, context, budget and planning restrictions. Whether the size of the project, everybody deserves a dwelling that reflects their individuality and the way they want to live in the most positive and functional way possible. If you find yourself drawn to a clean and crisp contemporary style then embrace it in all of its glory!  A good modern design will remain truly timeless and perpetually transcend any trends that come and go. A contemporary aesthetic offers a sense of drama, sophistication, and elegance to any home – and that is why this home will always stand the test of time.
