By Novak + Middleton
Located in the heritage area of Mt Victoria, this almost 110 year old villa has been a contributing part of the fabric, character and streetscape of Mount Victoria for a many years. Although it has been through many renovations in its history, it was important to preserve the primary 1930s frontage including its iconic red front door and pretty Art Deco stained glass.
To maintain the heritage character as well as achieving the level of finish and the high level of performance criteria, this project was a major reconstruction as well as a restoration, enhancement and sustainable reuse of the existing house. A new addition and interior re-arrangement of spaces has created a contemporary house that is light and sunny, private and accessible and has double the square meterage of the original.
