Cabana Resort banner

Nestled harmoniously and congruently amongst the coconut palm trees, and the crystal blue ocean on the relaxed sun-soaked shores of Gili Air; an abstract adaptation takes place between the classic cabana vernacular, and the traditional island bungalow.

Close your eyes and envision waking up with the sun sinking into your cheeks, the lukewarm island heat enveloping you like velvet. You stand up and your toes are submerged in the most refined sand. Life finally feels still for a fleeting second. This illustrated image is the sight of our design, the Cabana Resort.

A playful gesture of biomimicry takes place between the built form and the surrounding coconut palms, the rolling waves, and the undulating landscape strengthens its position within the landscape. Providing a fresh and contemporary feel with a duality that employs strong design sustainability through effect solar and passive techniques.

Designed around a central swimming pool area, which undulates its way to the entrances of each villa, much like the calming waves along this beach, providing discrete access into the pool from the villa, with individual wading areas for relaxing in the sun.

The eastern end of the resort has the main entry and reception that filters through to the double-storey restaurant area and swim-up pool bar.

Each villa has a king-size suit to each floor, providing 22 rooms, with two apartment-style suits to the pool's base that sleeps 4. There are also two utility villas to the western end of the resort that provide staff amenity and maintenance/service areas, utility services, and plant equipment.

A grand entrance into the Cabana Resort is a one-way getaway to paradise.

About the
Professional

A Perth based multi-disciplined architectural practice focusing on architecture, interior design and 3D animation. Our expertise are in residential, commercial, resorts, retail & heritage with a portfolio of projects nationally and internationally.

We are a team of experienced, passionate, and creative professionals with one objective: to produce innovative, sensitive, ecologically sustainable and visually attractive buildings that aim to satisfy both the functional and economic needs of our clients. Our studio collaborates closely, with a vast network of industry professionals and consultants, which allows for the successful integration and realisation of many unique design features into our projects, ensuring that our designs are not restricted in regards to their constructability. By utilising the latest in BIM modelling techniques and various visualisation platforms, we are able to catalyse the unique qualities of each project to create a concept-driven design process across multiple disciplines.

Through intense rigor, invention and process, we produce experiential spaces that heighten sensory perception that evokes a reaction – one that people can feel, not just see, inspiring thought and reflection. Form and spaces are not just limited to the site; it is entwined within the surrounding contextual fabric, hence DGK Architects believe in a holistic approach to create harmony between the two realms.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
