Introducing a new level of elegance, this transformation seamlessly elevates the residence with the addition of a second-storey guest suite and living space. The front elevation, now a timeless façade, appearing as though it has always existed in this form. The interplay of architectural styles creates a dynamic duality, featuring expansive windows, that hint at the bold interior features that lie within. A dwelling where form and function converge, blurring the boundaries between exterior and interior…
The first storey has been skilfully extended, concealing the original roof structure to maintain the illusion that the additional storey was always an integral part of the design. To enhance the façade's visual coherence, the formerly two-toned render of the front elevation has been unified, creating a more balanced and sophisticated aesthetic.
As eyes wander from left to right, a clear distinction between architectural styles unfolds, while simultaneously achieving a strong sense of balance. Defined by a juxtaposition of design methodologies – the home showcases expansive windows beneath a skillion roof, contrasting against a geometric structure of dark metal cladding. The architectural language translates to the interior, once again, dividing the space into two distinctive areas, each enveloped by the differing exterior styles.
Instilling anticipation, the extensive windows expose a bold timber feature wall, standing proud beyond the façade. Upon entry, the interior feature becomes more prominent, inviting the eyes to follow its towering silhouette to reveal a full-height void. Formerly a dark passageway, now transformed into a welcoming entrance, flooded with natural light cascading through the grand void.
Mimicking the existing recess in the living room, the timber cladded walls extend to the first floor, to envelope an intimate kitchenette – its presence concealed from the living space. Equipped with appliances and ample storage, the sage kitchenette complements the earthy palette of the existing interior. The spaciousness of the additional floor is further accentuated by the pitched ceiling, large windows and glass balustrading. Aligned with the intent of the architecture, the interior seamlessly blends the ground floor and first floor, as though the home was double storey all along.
The second storey also features a serene bedroom with a walk-in robe and an ensuite, providing a private retreat for guests. Large windows encased in a hooded frame allows views from the bedroom, of the tranquil street precinct while ensuring privacy to the neighbouring sites. Additional amenities include a powder room for visitors and ample storage, ensuring convenience and comfort.
The design of the additional storey prioritises tranquillity and elegance, with each element thoughtfully curated to enhance the overall sense of harmony. The abundant natural light, combined with the authentic colour scheme, creates an ambiance that is both welcoming and soothing.
