The restoration of the City Tabernacle Church is a project we were very fortunate to be involved with. The existing building was rich with history and restoration required traditional construction methods. The heritage building built in 1890s suffered water and hail damage from the severe Brisbane hail storm in November 2014, which saw the original stained-glass windows smashed by hail along with major water damage to the original hearth plaster ceilings and rendered white set walls. The large ornate cornice, detailed plaster around windows, and original stained glass all required specialised techniques and trades to restore. The roof suffered extensive hail damage and need all roof sheeting and box gutters replaced. It took six months to restore the church and the process brought the old building into the 20th century as it allowed for installation of air-conditioning, and a fresh new appearance.

“RJM Builders have been excellent to work with during the whole project. Their management skills in planning and executing the projects have been excellent. Various parts of the project, like painting the interior of the auditorium, required a detailed programme and this was met. They spent considerable time in finding the right trades to handle the various heritage tasks that the work demanded and then set about working with these specialists to achieve an excellent outcome. I would have no hesitation in considering RJM Builders for any project of a similar nature.”

About the
Professional

RJM Builders was founded in 2011 by Managing Director Ryan McMahon, who set out to create a building company that would forever change and set the new standard for builders to come.

All too often Ryan had heard of clients and builders leaving on bad terms, or heard that the client was unhappy with the experience and never wanted to build again. Ryan knew something had to change and so he created RJM builders to be at the forefront of that change, with a company that provides clients with an immersive building experience tailored to their individuality, goals, needs, and building expectations, whilst always being accompanied by a dedicated builder to guide them along their journey.

Ryan has over 25 years’ experience in the building and construction industry. He started his career as an apprentice carpenter renovating and building homes, and then moved to Site Foreman roles and Site Management positions in the realms of commercial retail, hospitality, office and medical projects for top-tier construction companies.

Collectively RJM Builder’s on-site and office team have over 100 years of construction experience from renovations, high-end new builds, Insurance works, commercial builds and fit-outs. We believe strongly in sharing this knowledge with all RJM team members, new and current, as well as subsidising their training in construction certificates to continually improve their skills and understanding of construction processes. This ensures the team of people at RJM Builders all possess high-end skills, knowledge and a shared vision for the important work we do.
