The team at Simone Haag Studio was engaged to specify the furniture, art and object for a pint-sized apartment in Melbourne. The brief was to create a feminine, fun and functional space where the client could embark on the next chapter of her life surrounded by beautiful things.   The designers wanted to support local makers were possible for the furniture, art and object - 90 percent of the pieces are Australian made.

“Mokum ticked the box when it came to colour.” - Sarah Shinners, Interior Designer. The inspiration behind the interior was based on the unique individuality of the client, who was well travelled, open minded and wasn’t afraid of colour, rather encouraging it.  Having lived in Europe for many years, she had experienced the art of apartment living and how colour can actually make a space feel larger, not smaller.

Through the collaboration with some fantastic craftsmen, furniture such as the curved sofa, was designed in collaboration with Harbro furniture.  The sofa that fits perfectly in the space, is upholstered in Alpaca Velvet, colour Ivy, by Mokum.   The fabric ticked all the boxes when it came to colour, plushness and comfort while adding texture and personality to the room. Timber shelving and the sofa end table includes handy storage tucked in behind for when guests stay, and can convert into a single bed.

About the
Professional

We’ve developed a deep-seated knowledge of interior textiles in our 110-year history. We’re interested in different ways of living, and we’re constantly exploring what fabrics can bring to people’s lives. And life has always informed what we do.

We believe in fabrics that have a unique viewpoint, born from a curiosity about the world. Fabrics with a sense of purpose. Fabrics that are crafted with passion, and embrace the lives spent on and around them. Fabric that spans trends, generations and cultures. The fabric of life.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
