Timber re-clad and renovation, Tutukaka, Northland

Turning an older house into a more beautiful, enjoyable and efficient home was the renovation brief from the owners of this Tutukaka property.

Cedar was utilised for a re-clad of the property to give the feeling of luxurious warmth, as well as blending in to the coastal environment. Unique pieces of carpentry were added to create flair and ambience, including custom made cedar louvres, large, sliding, barn-style doors, and a timber spiral staircase linking the hardwood decking across two levels. This created a space where the owners could entertain guests, while enjoying spectacular views of the Tutukaka Coast.

During the renovation, the insulation was replaced with a higher grade, resulting in a more efficient house. A home ventilation system was also installed to provide healthier air throughout the home.
