This property is a clear example of how AirSmart seamlessly integrates without compromising your home’s design. Our systems can be discreetly concealed while delivering the best air quality and circulation. Discover the perfect balance of aesthetics and performance with AirSmart.
AirSmart in a Pitched Roof
This Brighton residence was extended from a single-storey to a double-storey home with a pitched roof. The project required a custom solution due to limited space created by the truss design and narrow width of the house. AirSmart was selected for its ability to function efficiently in confined spaces where traditional systems would not fit.
Solution Implementation
Split Fan Coil Installation
The AirSmart indoor air delivery fan coil was uniquely split into two parts. The blower section was installed in one part of the carport roof, with fan and controls accessed from the top down to fit in the 600mm truss width. The wider coil was installed remotely, with ducting connecting the two. This configuration, exclusive to AirSmart, fits the space and meets service clearance needs for future maintenance through the carport roof, keeping mechanical parts out of the house.
AirSmart SmartFlow Integration
The property features AirSmart SmartFlow ducting, which occupies only 25% of the volume required by traditional systems, making it suitable for the limited space in this house, particularly around the upper floor's small roof cavities. The system uses a variable fan output to pressurise the ducting, allowing an 18-meter primary duct to extend to the living area, with a separate feed of equal length rising through a robe riser into the tight pitched roof upstairs. From there, final ducts extend to the AirSmart air grilles, including a shadow line detail above the kitchen joinery in the main living area. This pressurised design ensures effective service without compromising performance, a feat traditional systems could not achieve with such remote fan coil placement.
By employing a split indoor fan coil, AirSmart’s Integrator demonstrates the system's adaptability in challenging spatial conditions. This approach ensured optimal air distribution and compliant maintenance access, crucial for high-density installations. The flexibility in installing the fan coil unit in various orientations—horizontal, vertical, or split—maximised usable floor space and minimised refrigerant pipe length for efficient operation.
The final installation integrates within the home's design intent, incorporating the air path above the kitchen joinery into a shadow line detail.
