Collingwood Cottage banner

Collingwood is the heart of urban, contemporary style in Melbourne. This unique double-fronted cottage is an example of this. Exhibiting Collingwood at its most creative with a combination of colonial and modern features. This remarkable isolated cottage has been transformed into a sophisticated city-edge sanctuary, complete with a second-floor terrace and city views.

The original cottage is maintained on the lower level, with a contrasting contemporary second floor addition. This creates an intentional, clear delineation between old and new. The house was completely reimagined from the ground up. New open plan kitchen and living spaces on the top floor create huge amenity, doubling the usable area of this tiny 80sqm site.

Sustainability was at the forefront of this design, with the inclusion of a PV solar panel array, battery storage and electric vehicle charging.

Edward Cookesley Architecture (ECA) is a small architecture studio specialising in new residential builds, alterations and additions.

ECA was established in 2019.  The work of the practice encompasses architecture, interior design, urban design and landscape. Every project is carefully crafted to meet the budgetary and functional objectives of the client.

Our design responses are sympathetic to the surrounding environment and tailored to the individual needs of the end user. We believe design should be cohesive, multi-disciplinary and collaborative between client, sub consultants and stakeholders.

We endeavour to bring pride, practicality and sustainability to all our work and positively contribute to the public domain.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
