Como Charcoal Sculptural Kitchen

A refined expression of modern kitchen design, this exceptional interior brings together sculptural geometry and the distinctive character of Como Charcoal Limestone. The faceted, curved island and rangehood establish a cohesive architectural composition, enriched by the stone’s deep charcoal tones and natural variation. Carefully considered fabrication allows the limestone’s visual movement to continue around the island’s intricate profile, lending continuity and understated drama to its sculptural form.  The complex arrangement of curves, angles and junctions demanded specialist craftsmanship and meticulous attention to fabrication details. Slab selection, vein direction, templating and joint placement are fundamental considerations in achieving stonework of this complexity. The project exemplifies the value of involving Artisan Stone early in the design process, enabling close collaboration with architects, designers, builders and joiners to integrate ambitious natural stone features into the architectural vision.  Specialising in the supply, fabrication and installation of natural stone throughout the South Island, Artisan Stone brings technical expertise to distinguished residential interiors and bespoke architectural applications. This kitchen demonstrates the possibilities of pairing exceptional materials with considered design and precision craftsmanship. Congratulations to Detail by Davinia Sutton on the residence’s recognition as Oceania Regional Winner for Best Residential House Over £1M at the 2026 SBID International Design Awards.
