Deer Park Station banner
  • The 68th dangerous and congested level crossing is now a thing of the past, thanks to the newly constructed Mt Derrimut Road rail bridge and the freshly opened Deer Park Station in Melbourne’s western region. Commuters can now enjoy the convenience of the newly staffed station, which resumed train services after a 14-day construction sprint. Completed in late 2023, the modernized Deer Park Station boasts an air-conditioned waiting area, 150 newly constructed and upgraded parking spaces, a multi-bay bus exchange, and designated pick-up/drop-off zones.

Notably, Deer Park Station holds the distinction of being Victoria’s inaugural station with a rooftop garden. The station precinct has also been enhanced with landscaping, fostering improved connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists, including a seamless north-south link between both sides of the station.

As a part of this redevelopment, KeraTwin® ceramic façade and KeraShape vertical baguettes were used. To achieve the layout design featured at Deer Park Station, the KeraTwin® canyon profile was used in conjunction with a vertical black joint profile. The KeraTwin® façade system comprises numerous engineered proprietary fixing solutions that adapt to a range of substrate and design considerations. Systems include various proprietary rail and clamp solutions for horizontal, vertical, and overhead fixing of panels. All systems are equipped with an integrated compression spring which holds panels securely in position and prevents rattling during windy conditions. Access hatches were designed in conjunction with the Architect and installation contractor Ceramic Solutions. The aluminium framed doors provide maintenance crews access to services.

The German-made KeraTwin® ceramic façade system has an impressive list of attributes that are particularly useful in civic infrastructure projects such as railway stations. In these settings, the demands on building materials are high. The KeraTwin® façade system has a Hytect finish, which makes it easy to clean and assists with ease of graffiti removal, an essential attribute for public areas. Other useful features for commercial applications include that our KeraTwin® ceramic façades

  • won’t scratch, buckle or fade
  • offer very high-impact resistance
  • are graffiti-resistant and easy to clean
  • can be easily removed to provide access to services behind

Additionally, KeraTwin ceramic façade system satisfies the highest standards for classification as non-combustible according to the test criteria specified Clause 3.4 of AS1530.1-19994. Furthermore, it fulfils the requirements for no smoke development and no dropping or dripping while burning, as set down in DIN EN 13501 – even in the event of a fire, no fumes or toxic gases are released. As building materials, facade ceramics are regarded as offering tried-and-tested and stable performance in terms of their fire behaviour, due to their composition and manufacturing process.
