Driftwood

Driftwood is a contemporary coastal home that draws inspiration from its natural surroundings, creating a calm and enduring retreat where architecture and landscape work seamlessly together. Designed to respond to its coastal setting, the home embraces natural light, ocean views and sheltered outdoor living, offering a relaxed environment for everyday family life. The architecture is defined by a simple, carefully composed form and a restrained material palette that reflects the colours and textures of the surrounding coastline. Natural timber, robust exterior materials and expansive glazing combine to create a home that feels both refined and deeply connected to its environment. Generous openings frame views while allowing sunlight and sea breezes to move effortlessly through the interior. At the heart of the home, open-plan living spaces bring together the kitchen, dining and lounge, creating a welcoming place for gathering with family and friends. These spaces extend naturally onto covered outdoor terraces, blurring the boundary between inside and out and making entertaining an effortless part of everyday life. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered to balance beauty with functionality. Bespoke joinery, carefully selected finishes and durable materials create interiors that are warm, timeless and designed to withstand the demands of coastal living. The result is a home that feels relaxed yet sophisticated, celebrating the simplicity of contemporary New Zealand architecture. Driftwood demonstrates how thoughtful design can create a lasting connection between home, landscape and lifestyle—a contemporary coastal retreat designed to be enjoyed for generations.
