Endeavour Apartments are a 7-storey 2-block apartment complex in heart of Wellington’s CBD at 135 Thorndon Quay.

Holmes Construction was engaged to undertake seismic strengthening works and recladding of the buildings with a Nu-Wall aluminum cladding system. The project began in October 2021 and was handed over to the client at the end of 2023.

The buildings are on a constrained site surrounded by other properties on a major thoroughfare. A cantilevered scaffolding system was used to keep the road level areas around the building free for pedestrian and vehicle circulation.

The project was complex as significant structural elements needed to be replaced prior to installing the cladding. We carried out most of the work from the exterior as much as possible to avoid disruption to residents, who occupied the apartments throughout the works. Stakeholder communication was crucial to the success of this project.
