A transformed holiday bach in Waikanae, blending playful design with practical solutions for year-round enjoyment, featuring insulation, recladding, and an extension to enhance its charm and functionality.
This small holiday bach looks over the dune tops to the Esplanade Reserve in Waikanae. It was designed for a family who have owned the property for more than 30 years. An uninsulated 2 storey cabin was altered, insulated, reclad and extended.
We were keen not to add to the collection of existing suburban houses here, but to build in the bach spirit, to create a dwelling that was playful, relaxed and dealt with the unique conditions here practically. A holiday home to enjoy all year round.
