Award winning pizza chef Andrew Ferri was looking at a site to reopen a once thriving woodfired pizza restaurant in the Illawarra. The concept was inspired by the existing site which had been gutted by a fire and left blacked exposed bricks. Due to the history of the building and expected patronage material selection was key to the success of the fitout and its longevity.
The core of the interior design was the wood fired pizza oven which the design was developed around. The chef wanted to interact with customers as they came and went and the pizzas for dinning and takeaway accessible to the front service counter.
Our interior designers Wollongong worked closely with Lumina Constructions to source used timbers from local yards and recycled bricks from the innovation campus build. Due to the hard surfaces of the industrial concept and the large dining area acoustic panels where installed on the ceiling. Our graphic designer selected photo’s the client had taken in Italy and manipulated them to create graphic acoustic panels for the large walls.
The commercial restaurant design engaged with the existing site conditions while creating a welcoming experience for the enjoyment of customers, their family and friends.
