A work of Art

Tell us a little bit about the project

Being an artist’s home, we wanted each piece within the home to feel carefully curated as if the space was a gallery itself. Heavily inspired by Japanese interiors, each space is minimal and highly functional. With the use of American Walnut, deep greens, and ceramic tiles, the spaces feel warm, textured, and understated.

What was the brief?

The brief was to create a home that reflects Ash, her fiancé, and their lifestyle together. She wanted each piece in the space to have a story. These stories were communicated through unique furniture pieces, the people who created them, and their origins. The brief was also to create a space that feels fresh, bright, and minimal.

Stylish and carefully curated decor pieces created points of interest amongst the calm.

What do you love most about Tiles of Ezra?

I love the rawness of each piece. Each tile tells a story and we love the inconsistency of each tile - no two are exactly the same.

Can you talk us through your personal design style?

My personal style and aesthetic aren’t always very illustrated in our projects as we like to customise each design for our clients. I would say that our style is minimalist, raw, and earthy. You’ll notice in all our projects that we include unique tiles, hardwoods, plants, earthy hues, and a clear appreciation for beautiful lighting.

Tiles of Ezra is a bespoke tile studio specialising in handmade tiles from around the world. We pride ourselves on providing premium, high-quality Zellige that is 100% handmade by skilled artisans using age-old techniques handed down from generation to generation. We honour the sustainability of craftsmanship and support fair trade while bringing unique and authentic tile solutions into Australian design.

Unable to find a tile range that would facilitate many projects in Australia for her interior design for STUDIOEZRA, Georgia Ezra, director and creator of Tiles of Ezra, decided to take matters into her own hands. As an interior designer* whose signature style includes exotic cultural references, it was imperative to find an authentic, high-quality product.

Her search for unique, ethnic tiling, turned into a creative project and the foundation for Tiles of Ezra was born. A treasure hunter and market-maven at heart, Georgia searched the globe for inspiration and resources, creating partnerships and relationships with teams from Morocco,Vietnam and Mexico who specialise in producing authentic sustainable and handmade tile products.

TRADITIONAL AND HANDCRAFTED TILES WE LOVE

Merging Georgia’s experience in contemporary design and instinct for trend, with the group’s traditional handicraft abilities, proved a magical combination. The highly-skilled team of makers embarked on manufacturing a collection of unique modern designs in addition to many ethnic classics.

‘Tiles of Ezra’ is proud to share these designs with you because they are a labour of love not only for us but for our wonderful makers.

We have brought these tiles to Australia, in order to expand the platform of this style of interior fabrication. We hope that you too will reap the enjoyment of such vivacious, exotic creations within your own space.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
