A thoroughly modern brief: Create a backdrop for selfies and formal photographs on Graduation Days

Our first commission for Federation University, the Graduation Wall had a simple brief: create an entry structure and landscape treatment at the front door of the Mount Helen Campus, to form an attractive and appealing backdrop for selfies and more formal photographs on the University’s regular Graduation Days.

The wall is constructed of locally sourced bluestone, signifying a material and grounded sense of permanence for the University. Judging by its spontaneous use by students and parents on special occasions, the wall has been a great success.
