The client had other builders look at the site and walk away. A 32 degree slope with no flat land anywhere. This slope is at the limits of what a digger can safely operate at when it is auguring holes for piles. Lots of discussion and planning went into the successful completion of the foundations.

We advised the client to stay with a very simple form and to work with the contours of the land. We worked closely with the engineer. This resulted in maximum house connecting well to the street with minimal groundworks and fantastic flow through to the cantilevered deck viewing the Arthur ranges and the beautiful Tasman Bay

We advised our client to use Potius Building Systems- an engineered panelised, super insulated building system to keep on site labour costs and scaffold time to a minimum. This enabled us to get the roof on and closed in from the weather quickly.

This was a very budget driven house from the outset. A cost efficient fibre cement product was decided on as the basic material to work with, we added some battens to provide some texture

and help disguise imperfections inherent in those types of products. Clever use of some Siberian Larch weatherboard to offset the bold black structure and inside a ‘Scandi’ influenced decor offset again with Siberian Larch floor to ceiling balustrading on the central stairwell .Our client and ourselves were delighted with the result.

About the
Professional

We are firm believers in authentic detailing and traditional, textured materials used in a mix of traditional or contemporary styling. Solar-oriented, super-insulated, energy-efficient, sustainable and smart-ventilation, are all words you could use to describe the homes we build.

Like the tree, Manuka Homes is ideally suited to the lifestyle block among the apple orchards, farm or forestry blocks. Or as a refreshing urban space. It’s about pioneering the efficient energies of tomorrow and allowing the families of today to enjoy an eco-friendly yet practical home.

A hillside or other demanding site, we believe should by default force better design. Wouldn't you want a company that is tuned to the benefits a demanding site can offer?

Our belief is that it is better to listen to how you live (or want to live) and offer designs that complement that. We build homes that people will enjoy living in and achieve a higher resale value.

Manuka Homes use carpenters who are focused on quality, not quantity. We have a strong, reliable network of contractors and close working relationships with our merchants.

When you choose Manuka Homes you can expect a bespoke building company that is personable and will work with you to get the best result.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
