The Indira Gandhi International Airport is the major international aviation hub of Delhi and India. The original airport suffered chronically from crowding and servicing issues and the new terminal was to be operating for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi

Dickson Rothschild provided the construction documentation for Terminal 3 for the builder Larsen and Toubra. It is a two-tier building spreading over 8.1 hectares and with capacity for 34 million passengers annually making it the world’s 8th largest terminal in terms of number of passengers. The original design was completed by HOK, working in consultation with Mott MacDonald.

A team of 200 Dickson Rothschild team members worked from a hangar at the airport documenting 168 check-in counters, 78 aerobridges, 48 contact stands, 54 airplane parking bays, 95 immigration counters, 14 baggage carousels and a multi-level car park for 4,300 vehicles. Upon successfully opening, Terminal 3 elevated the performance of the entire airport to be rated the best airport in the world (24-40 million category) 2015 by Airports Council International.
