Inspired by the local, historical needle manufacturing industry We developed a circle and line/needle and thread motif. The general lighting is matched to daylight – cool white in the morning, then turning to sunset colours in the evening as the sun starts to take over. A night time a striking blue backdrop provides a nighttime aesthetic with a splash of neon signage.
This shopping centre also boasts the largest mosaic by Eduardo Paolozzi, which was previously unlit and now stands out like a beacon of beauty.
A massive, shifting, animated sun feature on the walls of the atrium enhances and defines the space. Shoppers bathe in its light and gain reprieve during cold, dark winter months.
