The client envisaged a kitchen design that respected and blended effortlessly into their family home.
A functional kitchen that accommodated a typical family unit also large gatherings with a seamless a flow into the scullery with the focus being on the dining area to house large family gatherings.
The design response was to capture the forms and layers throughout the was imperative to use contemporary materials colours, textures and form with the design. Due to the kitchen being situated at the end of large open space dining area the kitchen needs to have a strong presence and be well grounded with its detail. The layout of the kitchen compromises of a spacious galley format followed by a galley pantry space beyond. The island and cook zone directly parallel are wrapped in a door profile that is classic with an element of detail to emphasis the architectural aspect.
To provide a depth of form to this joinery layered overhead cupboards clad in in the same door profile. Apply a clever match of horizontal and vertical lines. To add further this hierarchy of layers natural black spice granite with a textured honed finish forms the cook zone, bench, splash back wash zone and raised seating area allowing the functionality of the material to shine.
Careful blending of the materials forms a proportion the tall units and the wall units of the back-zone area clean lines and a depth of detail.
To break this solid form an open display area was also introduced to the to assist with valuable storage requirements. Being back lit with the lighting detail helps this area pop and give it a sense of hierarchy in the zone.
