By Natural Habitats Landscapes
Our clients approached us with an exciting opportunity to transform their 2000 sq/m site into an experiential landscape for young minds.
The existing site presented an exciting opportunity to utilize the existing features including large bordering trees, pine trees and established vegetation.
Natural Habitats was tasked to design and build a playground, connecting with the wider New Zealand landscape using only natural materials.
This playground perfectly captures the characteristics of a New Zealand road trip.
The entire journey sets iconic New Zealand scenes for children to harness their imaginations and role play, climb, ride bikes or find the perfect spot for an afternoon nap. Each piece of the journey has its own planting zone including rushes and grasses by the stream and Azaleas in the forest.
Wander through the countryside, down to the farm and past the Marae. You’ll stop by a small village and venture through the tunnel to the forest. On your way home you'll visit the orchard and head back to the town you started from. Stone and timber are used throughout the build as requested by the client and ensure the central sandpit and tractor sculpture fit right in.
For this project, Natural Habitats was proud to receive the following 2021 Landscapes of Distinction Awards:
GOLD - Commercial Construction $50,000 - $250,000
