Situated over two floors, the Living Edge showroom reflects both the company and the high calibre of world-renowned brands represented including Herman Miller, Tom Dixon, Walter Knoll, Vitra and Flos.

Bates Smart design included the complete refurbishment of an existing building and modifications to the architecture. The retail space is located on the ground floor, with the working office, conference room and bar area located on level one.

‘The showroom responds to the architecture of the building and the character of its location. The interior design utilises natural materials and a neutral palette, with oak timber and handmade bricks as the key materials. The design produces a calm backdrop highlighting the furnishings on display. Fittings and Fixtures throughout are products represented by Living Edge.’

When it came to lighting, the brief from client was “flexible & easy to use”. The design of the retail space utilises a track & spot system to create complete flexibility for an ever-changing space. Euroluce took it that bit further by using the Flos UT 86 LED Track Spot, which has an integrated Casambi Bluetooth receiver mounted in the new slim line track adaptor which is now available across the full range. This provides the user with full control, using a tablet or smart phone, making it very simple to set up scenes and highlight feature products, as and when they need, all at their fingertips.

We were also asked to provide a feature piece to the staircase leading to first floor office level. The use of the Flos Overlap S1 & S2 pendants, designed by Michael Anastassiades, works perfectly paired together over the double height space, allowing customers to view the beautiful Cocoon material from all angles as they climb between floors.

Throughout the rest of the spaces, the ever reliable Flos Easy Kap LED downlights were used to provide general lighting to circulation areas.
