Hi, my name is Kahu. After working in the building industry for a few years, I noticed a gap in the market for small to medium building, renovation, maintenance, and repair projects. I am here to pick up those jobs the bigger builders will not.

Quality work & clear reliable communication are two factors I focus on. Providing this as a standard service is my aim.

I have vast experience in a broad range of industries, from the Military where I served in the weapons engineering department of the Royal New Zealand Navy, to corporate where I worked in the Business Development Management team for a software distribution company.

I began working in the building and construction industry in 2018, I completed a Level 3 Certificate in Building (Carpentry) at Unitec where I was top practical student. Whilst completing the certificate, I began working part time for a residential renovations company.

After completing my certificate I moved onto a company which focused on commercial office fit outs . After 12 months I decided to look for something more exciting, and that’s how I ended up doing building maintenance via heights access (Abseil, Fall Arrest, Elevated Work Platform).

When Covid hit, I found myself back in the residential building industry again. This time I was fortunate to work for a company focusing on architectural new builds and major renovations. This gave me a lot of experience with higher end materials and the ability to work to a high level of quality.

Since establishing Kahu Building & Maintenance in early 2022, I have worked on a wide range of small projects either through direct word-of-mouth contact, or my network of trade partners across painting, plumbing, electrical, glazing, and construction.
