By Pepo Botanic Design
The transformation of this McMahons Point property was significant and rewarding. Turning what was a little dark house, into a light-filled contemporary home was managed by the architects at Tribe Studio and many of the original materials were carefully preserved and celebrated.
Valuable conversations with the owners revealed their desire for beautiful scents and plant diversity, reminiscent of the gardens from their youth which included classics like aromatic Jasmine, Gardenia, and Hydrangeas.
A calming island of ethereally-placed stones entices visitors from the kitchen, towards the open-air courtyard. Here they are free to rest amongst the soft abundance and appreciate the intelligent blend of old and new. Our client’s private little sanctuary connects them with the earth, relieving the pressure of everyday life more than they could ever have imagined.
What the client says:
“Pepo’s design team worked seamlessly with our architect to carry the project from a conceptual idea, through Council, and into reality. I love the artistic elements in my garden.”

Our Story
Talented visual artist Nicola Cameron established Pepo in 2000, looking to weave her experience in photography and film into a different and creative living medium. Landscape design and horticulture provided the perfect platform to conceive her beautiful creations, passion for unique design aesthetics, and love of plants.
In 2007, Nicola’s husband James Perkin was appointed Construction Manager of Pepo, joining a team of specialists dedicated to turning a client’s dream into a practical and beautiful reality.
Hundreds of alluring gardens, courtyards, balconies, and rural retreats have been brought to life since the business began and the team continues to provide a premium landscape architectural service, brimming with creativity and inspiration every day.
