A multi-unit development in Johnsonville, Wellington comprising 17 two and three storey townhouses.

Monowai Road is a multi-unit development in Johnsonville, Wellington comprising 17 two and
three storey townhouses arranged around a central street. Whilst the site’s elevated position above Johnsonville offered expansive views over the surrounding area, it presented a challenge with regard to access. The dwellings were designed to work with the existing topography with a number of them designed as split-level units. This also reduced the overall visual impact of the development.

Clustered into groups of one, two, or four dwellings creates a mixture of scale and form while creating a sense of a hilltop village. The central access street naturally configures the houses along the ridgetop with either easterly or westerly views and outlook to hills and valleys beyond while enjoying the benefit of hilltop sun.
