One of our recent projects involves building four custom homes on subdivided lots in Waihi.

This specific home, situated on a sloping site, is the third out of the four and posed a unique challenge due to the slope.

However, challenges can often bring unexpected advantages, as was the case here. Thanks to the slope, we were able to optimise the stunning northwest view by elevating the home on piles, allowing for panoramic views that can be fully enjoyed from the spacious deck.

We also incorporated a climate resilience feature – a water detention system. By capturing water from the roof and releasing it gradually, this system reduces the impact of heavy rain and contributes to a sustainable stormwater system. We maximised both functionality and aesthetics by incorporating this water detention system beneath the concrete slab.

With an approximate area of 183 square meters, this single-level moderately sized home feels open and welcoming. The interior features a scullery and an open plan kitchen space. The master bedroom includes a walk-in wardrobe and an ensuite, while separate toilets and bathrooms offer convenience. The main bathroom provides both a shower and a bath for added luxury.

To create a standout appearance, we incorporated a combination of materials for the exterior, including Hardie's Axon Panel and cedar accents.
